ABOUT THE PORTRAIT
The photo of me on the index page was created from the picture immediately below, taken shortly after I was commissioned 2LT. I didn't have a portrait made after my promotion to 1LT (other than the one from the newspaper below) or after I was promoted to Captain, or after I received my Army Commendation Medal
There wasn't a proud bone in my body in those days.
I spent many years prior to my PTSD therapy plagued with survivor's guilt and intrusive thoughts about combat as a result of my combat service. Most days remain a struggle to overcome deeply implanted PTSD responses to stress.
